Todd Sarandos and Jordan Wilson began making concrete countertops in Burlington, Vermont in 2002, and later founded Red Concrete. In 2003, both Todd and Jordan completed a one-month apprenticeship at the Buddy Rhodes Studio, becoming a few of his earliest apprentices. “We were amazed by the volume of work and the variety of projects that flowed through Buddy’s shop. More than anything, we learned the “craft” of concrete from Buddy. We had been so focused on the technical aspects of making “good” concrete that we forgot about the importance developing an organic feel for the material. “ “Buddy’s attitude and understanding of concrete, design, and business have
had a major influence on our approach to using concrete as a design material and the way we run our business.” Red Concrete makes concrete countertops, fireplace surrounds, sinks, tiles, and planters serving all of Vermont and New England. We have had projects featured in Fine Homebuilding’s Annual Kitchen & Bath Issue and Design New England magazine.
