Care and Maintenance for all Sealers

How do I care for and maintain my countertop once it has been sealed?

Proper care and maintenance will provide years of trouble-free service from your concrete countertop. Concrete is like other natural stone materials and should be sealed with a product intended for its use. No matter what sealer was used you should promptly wipe up all spills and use trivets for hot items, cutting boards for chopping and coasters or plates under bottles that may drip oils or vinegar, which minimizes the exposure to the concrete or sealer.

If I spill something or notice a stain, what should I do?

Often warm water alone will remove spills effectively, but neutral based cleaners such as mild dish soap, Simple Green or similar should be used for tough spills. Avoid highly acidic or alkaline cleaners as these may etch the sealer or concrete itself, causing more harm over time through weakening the sealer. Never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as these will surely degrade the sealer quickly.
